Reality is a Myth

wizard's hatWhat if your fixed view of reality were a strategy to make you feel safe, to conform to concensus and to harness your vital essence? I don’t usually consider myself a conspiracy theorist, but the more I have stepped outside the box of concensus reality the more that I have come to question rather than conform to the ‘way things are.’

“Rigid belief is a model of the world that creates mental dysfunction.”
Mark Joyner

What you believe to be true, the mental construct that comprises your ‘the real world,’ is based not only on the limited information from your senses, but also on a smorgasbord of beliefs, ideas, theories, and musings. As a matter of fact, isn’t it true that you have even discovered, after the fact, situations and circumstances when your beliefs have had absolutely no basis in actual reality, even though you may have acted as if they did. Comb your memory banks and see how many of these experiences you can just rattle off.

If you also do the ‘chicken or the egg exploration” as to what came first, you’ll notice that most of what you believe to be true and YOU isn’t! What you consider to be YOU is a collection of beliefs, personas and canned collection of behaviors that you have acquired over time, somewhat like your wardrobe. At least you change your wardrobe seasonally and will even donate unused items to your local charities. When was the last time you did this with your perception of reality? When was the last time you decided to upgrade your version of what’s true?

So, what to do then? If who you are and what you believe your reality to be are not so, then what do you do? How do you proceed? How do you determine what’s real?

This is where the cosmic smile rides in like a tsunami . . . Go ahead! Just let the corners of your mouth lift and spread wide open. You can even let loose some cackles.

There’s good news and bad news. First, the bad news: it’s all a story, a fabrication, a woven tale. Religion, government, school, marriage, mortgages, etc. It’s just that groups of beliefs, or models, have reached critical mass from SO many people buying into the constructs. The specific constructs aren’t intrinsically true, they’re a mass agreement.

The good news is “It’s ALL made up!” so take out your wand and start weaving your own magical tale! How do you begin? You question, you explore. You unhook, you detach, you create space around everything. You begin to listen from a deeper space, the inner space of YOU. You expand your capacity to sense, to feel and to KNOW your own TRUE. You step out of the box and live dynamically from your own authority. You say YES to your vision and inner rumblings! You act upon the true rhythms pulsing through your being. You access the fresh, alivening NOW.

Let that determine the roll of the dice, not what someone else has dictated for you. Don’t conform! Question . . . ALL of it.

It would appear to be a description of how to disassociate………………let go of all that tethers you.

Seriously though, I don’t think you go far enough. It isn’t just that what exists out there is false, it starts as an inner process which is then projected onto the world. The false self, the personality, the persona all deal with the same thing. But undoing that, striving to become authentic is a process that takes time, trust, and it will likely hurt peeling that mask off your face. And further don’t believe it can be done in a hurry…………and while deconstructing one needs to be constructing………..hard work for anyone……….the fun part comes down the line.

Dennis, it’s much more than disassociation, though untethering from assumptions is a great place to start. There’s really nothing to fix except our misperceptions and I am in total agreement with you that this is a lifetime of exploration. The joy can begin right now as you appreciate and savor the beauty of what is, beneath the caked layers of crusty conditioning. I haven’t experienced any striving for authenticity (though I did travel that road years ago). When you connect to your essence and you engage the stream of life you know who you are and there is no reaching, no healing, no wanting. And yes, it’s simple but not easy. Isn’t that true of many things. Willingness is all that’s needed.

I loved reading this and hope to substitute this for my old belief system. Wonder what the most effective way to do this would be like. I do have trouble understanding what is meant by one sentence, though: ” . . . isn’t it true that you have even discovered, after the fact, situations and circumstances when your beliefs have had absolutely no basis in actual reality, even though you may have acted as if they did. Comb your memory banks and see how many of these experiences you can just rattle off.”

I would be grateful to understand to what situations this describes, so I can see if I really have experienced it.

Thank you!

Namaste

Shannon,

The best way to explain would be to give you one of my own examples. I used to co-own a World Gym franchise (for about 13 yrs). One day this very big, African-American man, dressed in a hoodie and ‘looking like a gang member.’ walked into the gym. I immediately made a number of assumptions and felt frightened. I had to check my assumptions and my emotions because he walked up to me and asked me for information. I soon discovered that he was a very sweet man looking to lose weight and we had a great time together.

That’s the first one that popped into my head. There’s a gazillion more, my life is full of them, but I’m more aware of them now, and consciously turn on the light instead of running with my initial assessments. Hope that helps.

This article brings to mind a quote of the famous physicist, Albert Einstein when he said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

We are the sum total of all our experiences and the experiences of those that touch our personal Universe. Sharing the “collective mind” reinforces the Christian expression, “What you do to the least of these my brothers, you do unto me.” The understanding of “oneness” places a responsibility on each of us to continually access our belief system to ensure that we “update” our “programs of truth” so that they are in alignment with who we are at our core as well as new enlightenment as it floods our planet.

We live in exciting times where “in-form-ation” takes “form” at rapid speed. This is part of the evolution, the shift, the ascension to higher streams of consciousness. What each of us accepts as our “truth” has a direct bearing on our neighbor and ultimately the state of consciousness on this galactic home that we all share.

While making ourselves available to current “in-form-ation” we also need to remain in the state of due diligence. Just because someone “reputable” spouts their personal belief system, it does not necessarily reflect the “truth” of what we all wish to create. Our hearts are our internal guidance system. Only accept that which we resonate with. Does it bring joy? Can the planet benefit from this information? How will this idea, suggestion, belief coincide with a life lived from unconditional love?

As John Lennon’s voice spilled into the airwaves, just “Imagine” a world you wish to live in and then act in harmony with it. We have the power. No need to fight to escape the matrix…let’s imagine the matrix we wish to live within.

We all have the responsibility to “be the change we wish to see in the world. ” ~ Ghandi.

D’Maria, thanks for sharing your light. These are, indeed, wonderful times. I rather like the speed of things and have come to avidly participate in the de-struct-ion of things, mostly me. :)

Every time I come to live what’s true it is joyful, what’s not joyful is my reluctance, resistance to it.
