In many healing traditions practitioners are taught to protect themselves with white light, pyramids, prayers, and grids. I just did a google search and there were 93,400 results for ‘lightworker protection.'
Why protect a lightworker? Protect from what? You are a being of light and yet, in physicality, whatever darkness you experience is as surely contained within you. This realm is a playground of polarities and contrast. The adventure contains it all. Why resist and create a separation between you and ‘you.' You are ALL of it.
A more radical approach is to be open. Open to the light, open to the dark. Be with it all. Notice and relinquish the urge to set yourself apart. Don't look for the darkness, but welcome it when it crosses your pathway. The dark informs you, as much as the light, often more. It creates crevices of compassion. It pulsates presence to aspects of you that were once asleep.
Mostly, surrender the illusion of being wounded or hurt. There is NOTHING that can harm a boundless being. In the realm of physicality if you are disconnected from what's true you cannot access the depth of your being. Your ability to feel profoundly is a doorway to this understanding.
When you disconnect from your ‘true self' it is equally impossible to connect to another. Whether it's your relationship with your life partner, your family and friends, or your colleagues and business partners, you won't be able to connect truly unless you open completely. Pema Chodron, Buddhist nun, sums it up quite clearly:
When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that it's bottomless, that it doesn't have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth and gentleness is there, as well as how much space. Pema Chodron
Relinquish protection, open to ALL of it. Life awaits your engagement.
