3 Ways You Can Benefit From a Bad Situation

Everyone experiences moments when self-care takes a back seat. You might be in the midst of a big change like your children going off to college, or downsizing your home upon retirement.

Or,  it could be something much more traumatic like the death of a loved one, or a sudden loss of material well-being through an unexpected crisis or catastrophe.

No matter what setback you are experiencing you can choose to see the opportunity as a way to solidify your self-care. After all, the more resilient you are the better you'll manage your everyday challenges.

How can you harness the good in a bad situation? Here's what I've discovered:

  1. Things are never as bad as they seem. You can lose all your stuff, but if you've still got your loved ones and your health you're gold. A bad situation can put you in touch with what truly matters.
  2. Nothing lasts forever, even a bad situation. As the days and weeks pass you will notice you can handle it and things get better. You learn to trust yourself more and you appreciate your newfound strength and wisdom.
  3. Sometimes you have to lose what you've got, in order to gain something new. Often loss is a great clearing. Loss divests you of things you would not have given up on your own, and gifts you with new perspectives, opportunities, and growth.
