Daily Shift: Walk with Intention
Walking is one of the ordinary, everyday activities that you can turn into an awakening opportunity.
Whether you're walking about at home, work or at your local park, you can bring your attention to your body. As you do so, your world will shift on its axis. You'll awaken to a new level of awareness and presence.
Here's a simple suggestion for your play with intentional walking:
Slow down, tune in.
Notice your breath.
Scan your body from head to toe – as you walk – and notice.
Notice what you feel. Notice what you sense.
Allow your breath to follow its own flow.
No control. Let it be. Let it flow.
Notice how your body is a flow.
Notice how your movement is a flow.
Notice your belly and how it feels when you pull your leg forward.
Notice how your thighs feel as you're about to step upon the ground.
Notice your movement. Notice your flow.
Let it be. Let it flow.
There will be times when the world around you will pull you back. Gently bring your awareness back to your breath. Allow the come and go of your attention. When you've noticed it's slipped, gently bring it back to now. Keep noticing, breathing, moving.
