Role Play, Anyone?

Black & White LadySometimes the roles you play in life – mother, daughter, father, son, business owner, lover, friend, etc. – can seem to encapsulate your essence. So much energy and time is invested in maintaining these roles that you can come to identify yourself with them, believing them to be ‘who' you are.

Consider that a role could not possibly contain the full magnificence of your divine essence  . . .

Who am I? is the only question worth asking and the only one never answered. It is your destiny to play an infinity of roles, but these roles are not yourself. The spirit is non-local, but it leaves behind a fingerprint, which we call a body. A wizard does not believe himself to be a local event dreaming of a larger world. A wizard is a world dreaming of local events. Deepak Chopra

Like a scene on a stage, with actors and set, foreground and background, take a moment to scan the panoramic vista of 2009. What roles dominated your world? Which new roles surfaced, front and center? Which roles did you reluctantly accommodate? Which ones diminished your vibrant capacity to show up brilliantly?

Roles are pathways to exploration. They create deep grooves in your experience and add rich textures to the landscape of your life. Relinquish and release the roles of yesteryear and engage the dynamic character of now.

    Hi Adela,

Thanks for the call today. All your calls immediately ground me as you ask us to breath and center ourselves. Thank you.

What came up for me was that this past year I’ve been playing the role of ‘Seeker’…trying to figure out what my passion is…trying to figure out how all this creating with consciousness works…it’s something I’ve been studying for years, and I think I may be ready to ‘get it’.

During the call, all of the ribbons extending from me that aren’t the real me, or my true path, turned to ash and fell away. Then a large one opened up for this next year…it opened up so large that I stepped inside of it. It’s pretty big. I think it may be my passion (although I don’t know what that is right now). It sealed up behind me and it also had a long pathway before me that was open. I think the biggest thing that I felt was that I would be safe while I was walking down this pathway. It helps me feel better about stepping out into whatever is going to be happening. I’m trusting that I’m going to be able to recognize either what my passion is or what path I am to follow for now.

Often the path of your passion is like this. You can only see the step right in front of you, and the path itself may be blurred. It is in stepping into what is presently available that the path comes into clarity. You see, it’s never been before and you are the one to bring it into being.

Kudos to you for your singularity. It seems like the energy of what your wanting is ready and waiting for you to say, “Yes!”

  • I added your blog to bookmarks. And i’ll read your articles more often!

This was perfect for this morning as last night began working w/ litigator, no longer working as atty, to develop program from young associate litigators about roles they play–combative, negative, fight to win at settlement table or in courtroom and the need to switch once out of that scene.
What roles will she and I play in bringing this to young lawyers?
Love this space and place and BIG HUGS for all who are creating this.

Don’t you just love the synchronicity of our connections? This sounds like such a powerful opportunity to impact attorneys who are part of ‘a system’ that is exploring transformation. How exciting for you to co-create this and how wonderful to be able to impact others in such an extraordinary way, Renee!

    Hi Adela,
I realized today after the energy-work, that last year were all about meeting old patterns and old roles. Most of which I relived and therefor did quite some damage to myself and my life.
The insight I just got today was, that their didn’t showed up to be relived, not even to transform, delete or master them. Their showed up so I am able to consciously choose, whether I want to live them or not or what I want to live instead..
So my next year (starting already NOW) will all be about consciously choosing what I want to experience, how and where I want to live and how I want to express myself…… and so much more.
Living my life and making conscious choices about the opportunities and events and people life will present to me. Knowing that we are our own creators and fully responsible of our life’s and its qualities.

    Thank you so much.
    Love, Sigrid.

  • As an Actor and Director, I can completely tune into this one… and even more so as a “Former Actor and Director in my Every Day Life”… fantabulous topic, dear one. Looking forward to today’s call!

As a performer myself, I’ve really played with this one a lot. The biggest role, the grandest play, is the one that is often the subtext. Thanks for bringing this to light, my love.
